Governance Competency Framework development

In an increasingly complex world requiring more of governance, the spotlight has turned to the competency of governance more than existed over a decade ago (pre-Mainzeal). That means that we need to be cautious of those we allow into governance, and we need to be developing the competencies of governance as robustly as we do of professional staff, focusing on the assessment, selection and development of governance.

Tribe cannot stress enough the need to move from the old pattern of governance which saw directors appointed on the basis of who they know, to a competencies and fit based assessment. The old model carries the risk of perpetuating the same thinking and insight as already exists on the Board. The basis for a forward-looking Board is the development of a Board Competency Framework which is where we can help.
