About the Company:
This company are a major transport operator in New Zealand. Having been acquired by a private equity firm they are now part of a global business which has a strong commitment to sustainability. 

About the Role: 
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant/Management Accountant to play a key role in driving accurate, insightful, and timely financial reporting for this company. 

This a fixed term role for an initial 18-months and requires an individual that has demonstrable experience managing month-end process and the ability to work autonomously. We are targeting a start date of mid-January, so we encourage interested candidates that are in permanent roles to also apply. 

Responsibilities:
  • Manage end-to-end financial accounting and month-end processes, ensuring accurate and timely group management accounts.
  • Review actual results against forecasts, preparing analysis and commentary for management discussions.
  • Oversee tax compliance, including GST, FBT, and income tax preparation and filing.
  • Lead the annual external audit process and preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations and team workpapers are accurate and regularly reviewed.
  • Support the Finance Team with annual budgeting, forecasting, and other strategic financial planning initiatives.
  • Provide financial support for ad-hoc projects and business development opportunities.
  • Mentor team members to build capability and performance across the finance function.
About You:
  • 5+ years of financial experience.
  • CA qualification (or equivalent) preferred, with solid knowledge of IFRS, audit, tax, and compliance.
  • Proven experience in statutory financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You’re a proactive and detail-oriented professional.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities.
