We are Tau Mai and this is our story...
I tēnei ao... we see ourselves as a āhuru mōwai/sheltered haven in this mahi, like the mahau/porch of the wharenui where you find shelter and catch up with your relations. Our whāinga matua or main purpose is to build a place where tangata whenua can feel safe and supported in order to reach the ultimate goal of empowerment through employment.
Ko ngā tāngata e ratoa ana, the people we serve is our kaupapa, our pou mua, holding up the mahau and maihi, the outstretched arms of the wharenui. We whakamana and uplift our people, making sure every interaction doesn’t feel transactional – our way of saying don’t just visit... stay.
We feed off the āhua of the people, we awhi and maintain manaakitanga, whakaaro and hononga, building strong relationships, building a stronger waka, so we are heading in the right direction – together.
We are the landing place where our people can come to rest upon, a safe space.
A place where excellence and culture are encouraged and ultimately, recognised.
