Ko te āhua o te tūranga | About the Role:
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, you’ll lead a team dedicated to supporting whānau to navigate social services, with tamariki at the heart of all you do. From youth mentoring to harm prevention and whānau conferencing, you'll ensure services are safe, connected, and impactful.

You’ll translate strategy into action, shape policy, and align delivery across the wider organisation.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Leading and supporting a high-performing, kaupapa-driven team
  • Translating strategy into effective, whānau-centred service delivery
  • Embedding Te Tiriti, tikanga Māori, and cultural safety into daily practice
  • Overseeing contract delivery, performance, and quality outcomes
  • Building trusted relationships with whānau, partners, and agencies
  • Supporting continuous improvement, risk management, and change initiatives


Ko wai koe | About You:
You’re an experienced, values-led leader grounded in kaupapa Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You foster a safe and healthy work environment where kaimahi have the skills, knowledge, tools and support to thrive.

Ideally, you will bring:
  • Leadership experience in social services or kaupapa Māori settings
  • Knowledge of kaupapa Māori frameworks and Māori societal and familial structures, including whānau, hapū, and iwi.
  • Knowledge of WAI 2750 and kaupapa related to Māori and iwi housing
  • Ability to apply Te Tiriti in practice and support culturally safe environments
  • Proven relationship-building skills across whānau, agencies, and stakeholders
  • Confidence in managing risk, performance, and service delivery
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent lived experience
