About the Role:
The General Manager Community leads VNZ’s national participation strategy, ensuring growth is inclusive, culturally responsive, and sustainable. Reporting to the Chief Executive and sitting on the Leadership Team, you’ll oversee a team of five. Deliver initiatives that strengthen pathways for players, coaches, referees, and volunteers. You will represent VNZ nationally, drive collaboration with stakeholders, including regional associations, clubs, and schools, and align community programmes and national events with strategic goals.
About You:
You’re a proven leader in sport, recreation, or community development, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build enduring partnerships. You bring strong cultural competence, a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the strategic mindset to connect grassroots participation with national outcomes. Experienced in managing people, budgets, fundraising, and programmes, you thrive on empowering others, building capability, and delivering results in dynamic environments.
Success in this role will be measured by:
• Growth in participation and retention nationwide
• Strong partnerships with regional associations, clubs, and schools
• Clear, accessible pathways for referees, coaches, and volunteers
• High engagement and performance of the community team
