About the Opportunity 
The Strategic Planning team plays a central role in shaping the future of the business and articulating the business’ vision. It provides strategic advice in relation to transportation and sustainability, to ensure the timely delivery of infrastructure and services that enable the growth of the business.

The Surface Access Strategy sets the direction for accommodating travel across the precinct with three specific pillars:
  • Mode shift
  • Network Management
  • Infrastructure
You will be accountable for setting and delivering surface access outcomes, balancing customer experience, commercial performance, sustainability, and network resilience. 

As the Planning Manager (Surface Access) you will lead specific initiatives to ensure our business goals, contractual and social licence responsibilities continue to remain ‘fit for future’ and met. The role has a pan-business responsibility and requires extensive engagement across the business and with key internal and external stakeholders. This is a very short overview. What You’ll Bring
You will probably have a tertiary qualification in planning, engineering or similar relevant to the role and if you have specialist qualifications in transport planning or related fields, that would be a bonus.
  • A good number of years’ experience in transport planning, transport policy or similar
  • A proven ability to influence and negotiate through effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer focus, and a concern for excellence and quality
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at a senior level, providing strategic advice and exercising sound judgement under uncertainty.
  • Experience in complex infrastructure environments. 
  • Knowledge of transport technology, sustainability, and emerging mobility trends. 
  • Travel demand management and mode shift expertise across public transport, active modes, and commercial transport operations. 
  • Ability to influence and negotiate complex issues with senior internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Strong collaboration skills across functional boundaries.
  • Well-developed skills as a team contributor, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functional lines
  • High quality written and verbal communication skills, including executive level presentations.
