About the Role: 

Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Manager of Sales is a key leadership role at Phoenix Recycling and will have overall responsibility for all sales & customer activity to fuel the company’s ambitious growth aspirations. Key responsibilities include:
  • Strategic Leadership & Growth – Lead the charge in creating and executing ambitious, forward-thinking sales and market development strategies that drive substantial revenue growth, expand national market presence, and unlock transformative business opportunities
  • Sales Pipeline & Performance – Build and manage a high-impact pipeline of strategic accounts, set ambitious sales targets and performance metrics, and deliver clear, results-driven reporting to the CEO and Board
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration – Inspire, coach, and empower a small high-performing sales team bringing best practice sales disciplines and processes into the business 
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement – Strengthen key client relationships, secure high-value contracts, and serve as a senior ambassador for the brand at major customer engagements and national industry events
  • Market Intelligence & Strategy – Use deep market insights to guide strategic decisions, establish competitive national pricing frameworks with the COO, and ensure cohesive, high-quality service delivery across all regions
  • Sustainability & Brand Advocacy – Act as a vocal champion of the company’s sustainability mission to elevate the brand’s reputation as a purpose-led industry leader


About You: 

We are looking for a highly commercial and ambitious sales leader and people manager who thrives in a growth focused, fast-moving and change orientated environment. You will ideally have the following experience:
  • A proven sales leader with the ability to attract, inspire, coach and develop talent 
  • Have a growth mindset – Someone who enjoys getting out, building partnerships & relationships and has a track record in growing a business
  • Have spent time in a corporate environment to bring those best practice sales disciplines, structure & process
  • You will come from a strong B2B sales background and to be credible in the market, either come from the industry or a closely associated sector like waste management, steel, building, logistics, energy, telco etc
  • Demonstrated success in growing and managing large-scale client relationships at head office and executive level
  • Proactive and hands-on approach to leadership and market engagement and a willingness to travel nationally as needed
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and sales tools, with the ability to suggest improvements
