Head of People & Culture
ApplyAbout the Company:
Channel Infrastructure is NZ’s largest fuel import terminal and has a vision to be a world-class energy infrastructure company. They receive, store, test and distribute petrol, diesel and jet fuel that their customers import and supply to Auckland and Northland and own a strategic position on the jet fuel supply chain to Melbourne Airport. There is both clear intention, and strategy, to support New Zealand’s transition to renewable fuels. At the forefront of this is sustainability and community!
NZX and ASX listed, there has been significant growth, doubling in value in the last two years through hard work, organic growth, and M&A activity. It’s nothing short of exciting and there’s a lot more ahead…
Change, pace, and mana – it’s a special place with very special people.
About the Role:
The Head of People & Culture will oversee all HR and culture initiatives for the 100-person FTE organisation. The site also hosts another 100 specialist contractors each day. Engagement and shifting of mindsets will see continued future success, so, while employee engagement scores are exceptional, this role will be part of taking thinking to the next level, alongside inspiring and driven Executives.
High standards will therefore underpin everything you touch. From talent attraction to Board reporting, and more - it’s an end-to-end role. You will take responsibility for the overall people strategy, EVP, capability development, and culture – in addition to employer brand and internal communications. You’ll also get to recruit your own admin support role and will have oversight of a full relocation into beautiful purpose-built offices over the next 18-24 months.
Yes, it’s hands on and you’ll be mucking in, but you will also play a pivotal role in shaping the future and driving things forward – modernising, refining, instilling high performance, and enabling best practice at every touchpoint.
While ideally being full time, Channel work flexibly, so if that’s a deal-breaker, let’s talk about how the role could potentially work. It’s very much about who you are and what ‘you’ bring to the table…
So, who are ‘you’?
You muck in and absolutely nothing fazes you. Precious certainly doesn’t come into the vocab when others describe you…but commercial does! You have been exposed to fast paced growth, which unsurprisingly, absolutely excites you.
You know what “great” looks like and can talk confidently about initiatives and fresh thinking you’ve brought to the table before; all while pivoting and adapting through fast-paced growth.
Given there is a small but active unionised workforce on site, experience managing union relations would certainly be valuable, and it goes without saying that you’re an expert across all aspects of NZ Employment Law, bringing 10+ years generalist experience.
Buckle in, and be part of something very, very exciting. It’s a unique opportunity, and not one to be missed.
