About the Opportunity
Reporting to the CEO, you'll take ownership of a large team across a full-service, multi-modal logistics operation. Your remit spans commercial delivery, people leadership and operational performance with a clear mandate to drive efficiency across a complex cost base while maintaining the high service standards this business is renowned for. You'll be expected to achieve budget, build credibility quickly, and bring the kind of operational discipline that turns a good business into a great one. This isn't a turnaround; it's about further optimising a business that's already winning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and developing a large team across multiple operational functions
- Driving performance within contract logistics and across air, ocean, road, customs service lines
- Overseeing governance including compliance and QHSE across the operation
- Partnering with technology and IT teams, including WMS platforms, to drive operational capability
- Managing a complex cost base with a sharp focus on margin and efficiency
- Building strong relationships across the executive team and broader business
- Contributing to strategic planning and positioning the operation for continued growth
What You’ll Bring
- Proven senior contract logistics operations and commercial leadership within logistics, ideally across multiple service lines
- Commercial nous in fixed-cost, lower margin environments, you understand the revenue and cost numbers and know how to move them
- Executive presence and communication skills that earn respect at every level of the organisation
- A leadership style that is collaborative by nature, you build trust quickly and are skilled at mentoring and developing talent
- The resilience and self-assurance to thrive in a high-performance environment where results matter and opinions are strong
