About the Opportunity 
A family business with an 85-year operating history in New Zealand. They provide sales, service, parts and hire, and servicing and repairing all makes and models of materials handling equipment. The business specialises in a range of internal combustion and battery-electric materials handling equipment. The National Technical Training Manager is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining all technical training programmes across the company.

The role ensures technicians are skilled, safe, productive, and consistent in their work, supporting high service quality, reduced rework, and strong commercial performance. 

This role is also responsible for creating, standardising, and maintaining all technical operational procedures for technicians. The position acts as the internal technical expert and trainer, lifting capability across workshops and field service teams.

What You’ll Bring 
  • Strong technical background in forklifts, heavy equipment, or related mechanical/electrical fields, with proven diagnostic and repair expertise.
  • Proven experience in diagnostics, fault-finding, and complex repairs.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering technical training and/or coaching in a workshop or field service environment
  • Excellent communication skills – able to explain complex technical concepts in clear, practical language, and adapt style to different learning needs.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety standards and compliance requirements relevant to forklifts and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to influence, mentor, and lift capability across diverse operational teams, including experienced technicians, sales, and business leaders.
  • Strong coach and mentor – patient, approachable and firm when needed; able to give constructive feedback and lift capability without alienating experienced technicians.
