As part of continued investment in a nationally significant technology platform, we're recruiting multiple Lead Java Developers to help shape the future of several business-critical enterprise applications.
These are hands-on technical leadership roles where you'll remain close to the code while setting engineering direction, mentoring developers and helping build high-performing Agile teams.

What you'll be doing
Working within one of several Agile product teams, you'll provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle.
You'll partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Test Engineers and fellow developers to deliver secure, scalable solutions that support important operational outcomes across New Zealand.
You'll still be writing code, but you'll also be lifting those around you—creating an environment where engineers can do their best work, maintaining high engineering standards and helping your team continually improve.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Java 17
- Spring Boot
- React
- Extensive experience building enterprise applications
- Strong solution design and architecture skills
- Experience leading software engineering teams
- A genuine passion for coaching and mentoring developers
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Agile delivery experience
