The Opportunity: 

Step into a dynamic, hands-on Head of Sales role as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.  This is your opportunity to shape and lead national commercial strategy and execution, driving performance with a strong focus on customer and consumer needs.

Fresh produce is one of the fastest-paced and most exciting categories in FMCG. It offers a unique chance for an ambitious sales leader to influence growth, champion innovation, and play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s future success.

You will:
  • Own & deliver the national sales strategy across all channels
  • Own revenue, margin and sales-related EBITDA outcomes
  • Facilitate strategic relationships with Foodstuffs North Island, Foodstuffs South Island, Woolworths New Zealand, wholesale markets and foodservice customers
  • Lead, support, develop and manage the performance of the sales and customer service teams
  • Stay close to customers, consumers, operations and the farm environment
  • Lead from the front and step in to support day to day execution when needed 
  • Drive category growth initiatives and increased per capita consumption
  • Lead S&OP and aligning sales, operations and logistics
  • Manage end-to-end logistics in partnership with customers

This role is Christchurch-based, with strong on-site presence expected to stay connected to the business and its people.

About You: 

You’re an experienced FMCG sales leader who thrives in both strategic and operational environments. You enjoy being part of the business and bring a genuine willingness to roll your sleeves up and be actively involved. You’re commercially astute, customer‑centric and energised by the pace of fresh produce — and you have a real passion for food and the primary sector that drives your commitment to delivering exceptional results. 

You will bring:
  • Proven sales leadership experience within NZ FMCG
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Demonstrates experience and a genuine passion of food, fresh or primary sector categories
  • A practical, action-oriented leadership style that builds trust and credibility
  • A willingness to step into detail and support your team when needed
  • Consumer marketing and logistics experience is preferrable
  • A passion for driving performance, growth and executional excellence
