Corporate Accountant

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Corporate Accountant to join a well-established public sector organisation with a national mandate and strong purpose.
This role sits within a central finance function and plays a critical part in delivering high-quality financial and management accounting, statutory reporting, and month-end processes. You’ll work closely with finance business partners, transaction teams, and senior stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver detailed financial reporting and analysis to support business decision-making
  • Prepare and process month-end journals and reconciliations
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and project accounting activities
  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger, fixed assets, and internal controls
  • Contribute to statutory reporting, including annual financial statements
  • Prepare public sector returns and submissions (e.g. Treasury reporting)
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Support finance system administration, enhancements, and upgrades
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems
About You
You’ll be a technically strong accountant who enjoys working in a complex, regulated environment and collaborating across teams.

You will bring:
  • 5+ years’ experience in financial and/or management accounting
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. BCom or equivalent)
  • CAANZ (or equivalent) membership
  • Sound knowledge of public sector financial reporting standards
  • Strong finance systems capability and advanced Excel (PowerBI desirable)
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical capability, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with diverse stakeholders
