Lead Data Consultant (Fabric)

• Lead Data Consultant role with a NZ-owned technology consultancy delivering modern data platforms, with a strong focus on Microsoft Fabric delivery
• You’ll lead the end-to-end build of production-grade data solutions—working across Lakehouse/Warehouse patterns in Fabric, partnering closely with client stakeholders, solution architects and delivery teams
• Hybrid working model (minimum 2 days in-office) and a team culture that values delivery quality, reliability and maintainability
What You’ll Bring
• 8+ years’ experience delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions (including complex integration and production support requirements)
• Strong Microsoft Fabric capability, ideally spanning:
– Fabric Data Factory (pipelines/dataflows)
– Lakehouse / Warehouse design and build, including Delta tables and pragmatic modelling patterns for analytics workloads
– OneLake concepts and workspace organisation, plus notebooks where appropriate
• Strong engineering fundamentals: advanced SQL (performance-aware transformation/modelling) and Python (PySpark where relevant)
• Strong delivery practices: Git, CI/CD, DevOps/DataOps, plus automated testing, monitoring, data validation and performance tuning
• Confident communicator who can run technical discovery, translate business requirements into clear scope, and mentor others through good patterns and peer review
