Read: Tribe's Kelly Dillon - Why I Changed My Tribe

Tribe Group Team

Tribe has grown from 2 to 34 in just five years

– that’s fast!

New Zealand-owned and operated with all directors in the office every day. Tribe is not driven by KPIs, we are driven by focusing on being the best we can by delivering exceptional client and candidate experiences.

I knew I wanted to work for Tribe, it had been on my mind for a while. However, with no vacancy, I wanted more than anything to be offered a job that didn’t exist. Long story short, many meetings, brainstorming sessions, and interviews later, my new tribe had created a role for me. For me! And as they say, the rest is history.

I first started putting these thoughts together prior to lockdown, and working through this unprecedented period cemented these opinions. James Brooke, co-founder of Tribe, addressed our team prior to all heading off into complete uncertainty. He was transparent about how the business was tracking and what we needed to achieve to get through; sharing breakeven points and strategic goals, I felt like we were in safe hands and there was a plan. James' final words still stick with me, "we are going into this thing with 34 staff and our number one goal is to come out the other side with 34 staff".

Our tribe was at the forefront of our Chiefs' minds. Although we couldn’t see into the future, I think I speak for all of us when I say, even if they didn’t know what the plan was at that point, we all had total faith that the wellbeing of our tribe and extended tribe was their number one priority.

Here are some of my noticeable differences:

  • Moving at speed

We have fewer clients which means we have a more concentrated focus on our clients and their goals. Supported by some of the best tools in the market, we get things done.

  • Niche expertise
Quality talent is growing harder to find. But as we truly specialise, we target the best and can respond quickly to industry changes.

  • Culture and accountability
At Tribe, we’ve all been in the industry for years. We’re adults and treated like adults, it’s a given. While culture is paramount here, high performance is part of that culture. There is no hiding behind large teams, we are accountable for our results which our clients reap the benefits of.
  • Less bureaucracy
Bigger teams typically mean more processes and increased wait times. With the talent shortage not showing any sign of letting up, it means that speed to hire is more important than ever and working at pace is second nature here at Tribe.

  • Lean and agile
If you’re looking for a recruitment partner that will respond quickly and creatively to a challenge or an opportunity - go with the smaller team. We focus on results, placing only the best candidates. There is no “one size fits all." Here at Tribe we are agile, we can tailor a process or create a bespoke solution tailored to your individual needs.

Locally-owned and more specialised, means less bullsh*t, fewer meetings, more doing what we came here to do. Recruitment.
