Payroll Officer

About the Company:

This business is going through an exciting period of growth and change. With an expanding footprint across New Zealand, their finance team is central to keeping things running smoothly. They’re a collaborative bunch, based in a bright open-plan office in Parnell—and right now, they need a safe pair of hands to process fortnightly payroll for approx. 100 employees.

About the Role:

This is a 3-month role initially, though the possibility to go permanent is there for a superstar, and is starting as soon as possible. You’ll be responsible for processing fortnightly payroll using iPayroll—mostly salaried employees with a chunk of hourly/timesheet staff.
There’s also scope to lend a hand on Accounts Payable, so if you’ve got dual experience, that’s a bonus.

What you'll be doing:

  • End-to-end payroll processing (salaried and waged employees)
  • Interpreting employment agreements and ensuring compliance with NZ Holidays Act
  • Responding to payroll queries and anomalies
  • If you have the experience: supporting AP function: invoice processing, payment runs, reconciliations
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Month-end support for the wider finance team
  • Working cross-functionally across multiple cost centres

About You:

You’ll be confident managing full-cycle payroll and have a sound understanding of NZ payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act. You’ll ideally also have strong AP experience and enjoy working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Being highly accurate, organised, and proactive will serve you well here.

Experience with iPayroll or similar systems is an advantage.

The Details:

Location: Parnell (5 days office-based)
Duration: 3-month contract – possibility of perm
Hours: Core hours 10am–3pm, with flexibility either side (40 hours/week)
Pay: Open, dependent on experience
Systems: iPayroll, ApprovalMax, Excel, Netsuite
