With over 15 years of success and a reputation for delivering across the country — from Kaitaia to Invercargill — NZESL is now looking to appoint a commercially savvy Finance Manager to lead their finance function and support their next phase of growth.
This is a hands-on, broad, and commercially impactful role — ideal for someone who thrives in both detail and big-picture thinking.
About the Opportunity
As Finance Manager, you'll have end-to-end responsibility across multiple entities within the NZESL Group. You’ll be reporting directly to the GM and Finance Subcommittee and act as a key partner to business owners and internal stakeholders.
Your remit will include:
- Full oversight of finance operations — GL, reconciliations, payroll, and inventory (including import/export)
- Preparing accurate monthly and year-end reporting (including consolidated accounts)
- Leading tax compliance (GST, FBT, PAYE, Income Tax) and maintaining financial controls
- Driving budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and financial modelling
- Providing insights to help shape business strategy and performance
- Supporting system and process improvements to drive greater efficiency
What We're Looking For
You’ll bring:
- CA qualification and experience in a financial management or senior accounting role
- Strong working knowledge of NZ GAAP, tax compliance, and group financial reporting
- Proficiency in Xero, Unleashed, and advanced Excel
- Sharp attention to detail, clear communication skills, and strong commercial instincts
- A proactive mindset and comfort operating in a small, dynamic team
Bonus if you also have:
- Experience in inventory or sales-focused businesses
- Exposure to finance system implementation or improvement projects
- A hands-on attitude and interest in how finance supports operational success
