Mō te Tūranga | About the Role:
You’ll lead regulatory processes for complex marine and land-based applications, provide high-level technical and procedural advice, and ensure the EPA’s processes remain robust, fair, and future-focused.
As Principal Advisor, you will:
• Guide regulatory applications and processes
• Act as escalation point for technical/process issues
• Support compliance with legislative timeframes
• Lead internal training and upskilling
• Liaise with iwi, industry, and government stakeholders
• Manage official information and procurement processes
• Contribute to operational policy development
Mōu | About You:
We’re looking for a seasoned professional with a strong background in regulatory environments, ideally in sectors such as oil, gas, mining, or environmental/resource management.
You’ll bring:
• Strong regulatory experience within NZ context
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement & relationship
• Builds trusted relationships with Māori to uphold Treaty obligations
• Sharp analytical and risk management skills
• Confident in hearings and technical forums
• Knowledge of public sector finance and cost recovery
• Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. science, planning, engineering)
