We are a group within The Blind Foundation, so the group is called Access Advisors, and The Accessibility Tick Programme is the main product of Access Advisors. Basically, that is a membership programme where we work with employers to help them become more accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities.
The reason for the disability employment gap isn't that employers didn’t want to employ people with disabilities -they wanted to - it’s because they didn’t have the confidence. They didn’t know what to do and how to do it to make sure that those placements would be successful and sustainable.
So that’s what the Accessibility Tick Programme does. It is a full, complete accessibility management system across nine competencies, and we work with employers to make systemic change within their organisations.
