This role sits within a high-performing education team and blends relationship management, commercial ownership, and growth-focused account development. You will take responsibility for an established portfolio of higher education customers in New Zealand, ensuring strong retention while also identifying and converting meaningful growth opportunities.

While this is not a pure hunting role, it absolutely requires a strong commercial mindset. You’ll be confident engaging in strategic conversations, uncovering expansion opportunities, and turning trusted relationships into long-term revenue growth. The official title is “Customer Account Manager – Higher Education”.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Own and manage a portfolio of higher education customers across New Zealand 
  • Drive retention, renewals, and sustainable account growth across an established client base 
  • Identify and convert upsell and cross-sell opportunities across a broader SaaS product suite 
  • Lead commercial conversations including account planning, contract negotiations, and pipeline management 
  • Build and maintain strong multi-level relationships across IT, operations, finance, and senior leadership stakeholders 
  • Act as the key customer partner, ensuring clients are engaged, supported, and continuously realising value 
This role requires someone who is polished, resilient, and commercially sharp - someone who can build deep trust while still leaning into growth and accountability. You will be comfortable operating across service, strategy, and sales in a consultative enterprise environment.

What You’ll Bring
You are a relationship-led sales and account manager with strong instincts and a proven ability to grow revenue within complex enterprise environments. You know how to balance retention with growth and can confidently navigate senior stakeholder conversations.
  • Proven experience in account management, customer success, or solution sales within SaaS or technology environments, it is important you have worked with higher education institutions in NZ to succeed in this role.
  • Strong track record managing large, complex higher education or enterprise customer relationships with revenue accountability 
  • Confidence leading commercial discussions including renewals, pricing, contract negotiation, and account strategy 
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities and build credible, structured upsell pathways 
  • Strong pipeline discipline, forecasting capability, and stakeholder management skills 
  • Experience working within or selling into the higher education sector is highly advantageous 
You’ll bring credibility, warmth, and professionalism, alongside energy, curiosity, and a strong commercial edge. You’ll be self-managing, adaptable, and outcomes-focused, with the ability to deepen relationships while still delivering growth.
