The biggest opportunity and challenge for those in the people space is really how to embrace and leverage the greatness we saw - the good side of what COVID brought — which was the ability to experiment and pivot.
It’s a really exciting time. Organisations in New Zealand are starting to flourish again. Having a set of principles about the way you want to run an organisation. Principles that support employees to be powerful in whatever way that looks for them, and that give them the freedom to move, grow, and learn. That’s where the real success of a company comes from.
Having those principles, being really clear about what they are, simplifying them, and pushing decision-making down allows organisations to truly embrace what people can offer. I think we massively underestimate what our people can do.
So, this is a really exciting time, even for the more traditional forms of HR, as we rethink how those are done.
