Creating a More Sustainable Workplace at Tribe

Hi I'm Lydia and I'm Jacq's and together we are the sustainability committee here at Tribe.

The first one is reducing the number of bins that you have by desks and actually providing your team with organic bins, a recycling bin and also a landfill bin. As well as the bins, you can also get your team to reduce printing by printing double-sided and also in black and white.

The second thing is creating an energy-saving culture, and you can do that by turning off your lights, turning off your heating and fans, computers and printers after hours.

The third thing is social responsibility. We really encourage you to partner with different organizations where you feel you can add value and give back. So here at Tribe we got involved with a company called Green Business HQ and they provided a really positive environment for us to work on our sustainability here at Tribe and also try to reduce our carbon footprint.

Now we understand this is not a short-term process and we've got some long-term goals, but in the short-term they've helped us to reduce our printing costs, reduce our waste and really look at how socially responsible we actually are.

If we look at those in a little bit more detail: our printing, just over the last couple of months, has reduced by probably 60%. Which in a company this size is not massive, but you know, small changes all help.

Our waste — we physically removed all our rubbish bins from the office, we introduced a compost bin in our kitchen, and this reduced our waste by probably up to 50%. We think how landfill has reduced.

We've worked on our social responsibility here at Tribe in ways that we can give back to the community more, and we've partnered with a firm called The Cookie Project. They employ people with disabilities, to make cookies. They provide us with cookies that we can give to our clients, and it's just a great partnership that us here at Tribe have really got behind, and we find it completely positive.
