Easy Crypto | A Kiwi business leading the way for Cryptocurrency in New Zealand

I'm Janine Grainger, I'm the CEO at Easy Crypto. We're a New Zealand startup that's gone global in the cryptocurrency space. We provide retail customers with access to cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrency is most simply a way to transfer value that is fully digital and it's also fully trustworthy without requiring any intermediaries to help transactions be processed. The network itself processes the transactions with no banks, no governments, no MasterCard, Visa etc, and every transaction is completely guaranteed and fool proof.

We've seen a huge increase in people getting involved in cryptocurrency, particularly since Covid. I think there's probably three drivers for that. One is that people were at home with not much to do and getting around to that to-do list. They've been like, "I've been meaning to get involved with cryptocurrency," and hadn't quite got around to it.

Secondly, I think people are getting a lot more comfortable with digital products and things that are fully digital, whereas previously it was a little bit uncomfortable for us. It's like you want something you can touch, hold, feel, whereas post-COVID we're like, ah, all the shopping online, Zoom meetings, QR codes are now commonplace, even little things like that.

And then thirdly, I think there's a bit of a view of people wanting to diversify and maybe put some of their wealth portfolio into assets outside of the traditional asset classes, stocks, shares, gold. Cryptocurrency is a fantastic vehicle for diversification of wealth and giving people an opportunity to earn better returns than they could potentially with their bank, or definitely better returns than they could with their bank.
