Hi, my name is Bishop Andrew. I'm the Bishop of the Diocese of Waiapu and the chair of the Waiapu Anglican Social Services Trust Board. The arrival of the Gospel into the Diocese of Waiapu has many entry points, but most of them relate to the stories of Māori bringing the gospel with them from their encounters with the missionaries up in the Bay of Islands and then returning to their homes either in the Waiapu Valley or perhaps in Rotorua or other places around the Diocese. They were the first to really introduce the gospel to their people.
Waiapu has continued to flourish and grow through lots of different history that's shaped and formed us, as indeed it has shaped and formed our country. Anglican Care Waiapu offers a variety of services which the senior leadership team by and large look after managing. The Kaihautū will be involved in overseeing the senior leadership team in developing them, but also we want to make sure that the Kaihautū has a commitment to innovation and research and development of new ideas, new ways for us to serve the underserved within our communities.
The board hopes that our Kaihautū will be a person of passion, of intellect, and of rigor. We want to be able to relate to them and we want them to be able to relate to us and to the people that we serve. It's also really important to us as a board that a Kaihautū is somebody who can relate to the essence of who we are as Anglican Waiapu, and it's found in our faith and in our whakapapa as a Diocese and in relation.
If this has captured your imagination or you'd like to find out a bit more about us, please - we'd love to hear from you. Reach out to the team at Tau Mai to hear more.
