Karma Cola co-founder Chris Morrision - How's your sustainability karma?

I’m Chris Morrison, one of the co-founders of Karma Cola. We are a Fairtrade organic drinks company, and we come from an ethical perspective. We also have a foundation that supports our cola nut growers in Sierra Leone.

The Karma Cola Foundation is about supporting the grower communities in Sierra Leone, where our cola nut comes from. Sierra Leone has been hit hard by a ten-year civil war and, more recently, by Ebola. We want to make sure that those growers and their communities are well supported. So, not only do we buy the cola nut from them, but we also invest money into supporting girls’ education, teachers, food security, and more.

We feel really good about it, and we send a group from our team there every year. It’s a really strong partnership for us.

Sustainability is at the heart of Karma Drinks. We try to be conscious of all the decisions we make. There are always compromises in business, but we aim to do the best we can. For us, sustainability means making sure that every decision is taken consciously, with consideration for its social and environmental impact.
