Head of Finance CORT Housing

Apply
About CORT Community Housing:
The Community of Refuge Trust (CORT) is a registered Community Housing Provider and charitable trust working across Tāmaki Makaurau. Established in 1987, CORT provides affordable, secure and well-maintained homes for people who face barriers to accessing suitable housing. Its vision is that everyone has a home and a place in their community.

CORT delivers housing, tenancy support, property services and housing development through CORT and associated entities, including ACCORT. The organisation works with government, banks, funders, investors and community partners to increase access to quality homes and support sustainable communities.

About the Role:
This is a full-time role based in Eden Terrace, Auckland. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Finance leads financial management, reporting, planning, compliance and insight across CORT and ACCORT.
The role has a direct governance relationship with the Board and the Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee, providing clear financial reporting, advice, analysis and recommendations. It also works closely with the leadership team, development, property, tenancy and operational teams.

This is a senior, hands-on finance leadership position. You will oversee and deliver monthly and annual reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, treasury, audit, payroll, tax, internal controls and finance systems. You will also support development finance, banking facilities, project loans, covenants, funding claims and business cases for new housing activity.

You will lead and develop the Assistant Accountant, strengthen the capability of the finance function and ensure financial information is accurate, accessible and useful to decision-makers across the organisation.

About You:
You will be an experienced senior finance professional who combines strong financial control with sound commercial judgement and the ability to provide practical advice to executives and governance.

You will bring significant hands-on experience across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit, compliance, cashflow and internal controls. Experience with treasury, debt facilities, banking covenants, development finance, property or another asset-intensive environment will be valuable.

A relevant accounting or finance qualification is required, with Chartered Accountant or equivalent status strongly preferred. You will be confident presenting to a Board or governance committee and able to make complex financial information clear to non-financial stakeholders.

You will be trusted, ethical, collaborative and practical, with the resilience to manage competing priorities and remain close to operational detail. Alignment with CORT’s purpose, values and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a Tāngata Tiriti organisation is important.
