General Manager Corporate Services

Apply
About the Opportunity
  • Tourism New Zealand is a purpose-led Crown entity responsible for marketing New Zealand as a visitor destination, with a clear focus on delivering long-term benefits for Aotearoa.
  • Reporting to the Chief Executive and operating as a key member of the Executive Team, you will lead a broad Corporate Services portfolio spanning strategy and performance, people, finance, technology and data, enterprise risk and corporate communications.
  • You will lead six direct reports and a multidisciplinary team supporting Tourism New Zealand's global operations.
  • This is a significant enterprise leadership role, providing clear advice, governance and assurance while uplifting organisational performance, efficiency, collaboration, and driving change initiatives forward — including the adoption of AI and digital tools.
  • You will work closely with the Executive Team, Board and Audit and Risk Committee, while also leading engagement across relevant government agencies and ministerial stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring
  • Significant senior leadership experience, ideally 10+ years, with the breadth to lead multiple corporate functions and contribute meaningfully at Executive and Board level.
  • Strong strategic and commercial judgement, including experience across organisational strategy, planning, performance, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience operating in complex and multi-stakeholder environments, with strong capability in governance, stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • A people-focused leadership style. You set clear direction, develop capable leaders, empower your team to think differently, drive performance and business impact, and build a resilient culture that can navigate change with rigour.
  • You will bring robustness to discussions, be decisive, move with pace, and inspire collaboration – with the organisation and purpose at the forefront of any decision.
  • A forward-looking perspective to technology, AI and new ways of working, alongside a genuine commitment to Te Ao Māori.
What’s on Offer
  • While this role clearly offers senior leadership across strategy and performance, there is an important emphasis on being people-centric, values-led, and getting the best from others.  This is certainly not a functional specialist, but a leader of leaders!
  • A rare opportunity to take on a broad enterprise leadership role within one of New Zealand’s most recognisable organisations.
  • The chance to help shape organisational performance and lift capability at a time of meaningful change, including the continued evolution of AI and digital ways of working.
  • An established Executive Team, experienced functional leaders, and the opportunity to influence outcomes across a genuinely international organisation, with a brand to be proud of.
  • The work has a deep sense of purpose - creating a positive impact for New Zealand, its people, and visitors from around the world.
  • Wellington is the preferred location, although Auckland will be considered for the right person - domestic travel forms part of the role either way.
  • A Crown entity commercially focused, innovative, and strongly orientated toward demonstrating return on investment – a hugely attractive opportunity!
