Business Development Manager

Apply
About the Opportunity
  • Newly created Business Development Manager role within a specialist insurance business.
  • Purpose: grow and strengthen broker relationships (starting with an existing portfolio, then expanding into a wider network over time).
  • You’ll be the face of the business to brokers, building trust, understanding what brokers need, and shaping better outcomes by working closely with internal technical experts.
  • Small, close-knit team where you can genuinely influence how things are done (not a “cog in the wheel” environment).
  • Based in Auckland with light travel (typically local visits weekly; occasional out-of-town trips).
What You’ll Bring
  •  Proven experience in business development / relationship management, ideally in a broker-led or insurance environment.
  • Insurance experience (any area of insurance considered), enough to be credible and curious with technical products and broker conversations.
  • Confidence building partnerships with brokers and professional networks (warm network development rather than cold calling).
  • Ability to prioritise opportunities and work methodically through multiple moving parts.
  • Strong stakeholder management, able to collaborate with internal specialists to deliver great broker and customer outcomes.
  • A proactive, self-driven style, comfortable with autonomy, ambiguity, and improving/reshaping how things run.
What’s on Offer
  • A role with real autonomy and influence - you’ll have scope to help drive growth and improve how the business engages the market.
  • Relaxed, down-to-earth culture and a tight, supportive team environment
  • Low travel requirement (no heavy on-the-road expectation).
  • Competitive salary plus bonus/incentives.
