About the Opportunity 
New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) is dedicated to saving lives. Every year, tens of thousands of generous people donate their time, blood and plasma to us for free. In addition to our vein-to-vein service in transfusion, we also provide national services in organ transplantation, cellular therapies and tissue banking. 

We exist to ensure the efficient delivery of safe blood and tissue products on a time critical basis throughout New Zealand and through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help save lives.

As the National Manager – Procurement and Commercial, you will be responsible for leading the procurement and supplier management function and strategy for New Zealand Blood Service ensuring the delivery of optimal commercial, operational and strategic outcomes across a diverse portfolio of goods and services. The role will support greater transparency and governance on procurement and supplier management and ensure it meets the requirements set for the organisation as a Crown Entity but is also right-sized - where the business has real ownership of their procurement activity.

What You’ll Bring
  • Procurement experience in a complex environment 
  • Experience leading a team
  • Strong commercial contracting and negotiation expertise
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Experience of previous implementation of procurement systems and digital tools
  • Preferably a Degree in Business, Commerce, Procurement, Law or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen
  • Experience with AI and Digital Transformation
You will have strong influencing skills and exceptional attention to detail, whilst being an effective communicator with the ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and internal/external customers as well as suppliers
