Senior SOC Analyst (L2)
About the Opportunity
We're partnering with a leading NZ technology and cybersecurity organisation to recruit two Senior SOC Analysts (L2) to join their established Security Operations team. There's also an immediate contract opportunity, with potential to transition into a permanent role.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on security investigations, solving complex problems and working directly with customers in a fast-paced Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) environment.
In this role, you'll:
-
Investigate and respond to complex security incidents as a key L2 escalation point.
-
Work across Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, Defender, LevelBlue USM and Darktrace.
-
Provide clear advice and recommendations to customers during security incidents.
-
Collaborate with security engineers and specialists to coordinate incident resolution.
-
Support junior analysts and contribute to continuous improvement across the SOC.
What You’ll Bring
- We're looking for someone with strong technical capability, excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to managing security incidents.
- Ideally, you'll bring:
- Proven experience in an L2 SOC Analyst, Senior Security Analyst or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender and/or CrowdStrike.
- Strong knowledge of networking, infrastructure, firewalls and security fundamentals.
- Confidence investigating complex incidents and communicating directly with customers.
- Experience in an MSSP environment, with the ability to manage escalations and competing priorities.
- Above all, we're looking for someone who can demonstrate practical technical capability and strong customer engagement, rather than relying solely on certifications.
What’s on Offer
- Exposure to leading SIEM, EDR and NDR security technologies.
- A collaborative team environment with opportunities for technical development.
- Ongoing training and the chance to broaden your security expertise.
- Exposure to diverse customer environments and complex security challenges.
- The team operates across extended hours, with rostered shifts between 7am and 7pm. Occasional on-call support may be required for permanent employees.
